Purpose of the Illinois Institute of Technology Undergraduate Bulletin

This bulletin describes the academic programs and resources, policies, procedures, and student services in effect at the time of publication, which as noted in the Forward are subject to change at the discretion of Illinois Tech.

General information regarding the history of the university, the setting of the campus, and campus life is also included. These sections can be used by prospective students and others to gain an understanding of the university as a whole.

The programs described in this bulletin are applicable to those students who enter Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois Tech) in the academic year 2023-2024. Students are entitled to follow the academic programs requirements described in the bulletin in effect at the time of their first registration, though they are subject to changes made by Illinois Tech to any other part of the Bulletin.

As noted, changes in programs and policies often occur before a new bulletin is published. A faculty adviser from the student’s major department is the best source for current curriculum information. The Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs can refer students to the appropriate administrative office for current policies and procedures. Many policies in this bulletin are also found at iit.edu/registrar.

Illinois Institute of Technology is a multicultural community that values and respects its members. We take pride in the fact that our faculty, staff, and students come from various backgrounds and all parts of the world, and we welcome their diverse perspectives and contributions. It is our goal to provide a working and learning environment in which faculty, staff, and students are able to realize their full potential as productive members of the university community.

To this end, Illinois Institute of Technology is committed to equal opportunity and nondiscrimination in employment and education for all qualified individuals regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, applicable veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law. Further, the university strives to take affirmative actions to increase opportunities at all levels of employment and to increase opportunities for participation in programs and activities by all faculty, staff, and students.

Every member of the Illinois Institute of Technology community: faculty, staff, and student, is expected to cooperate fully in meeting these goals.

Any student, applicant, or employee of Illinois Institute of Technology who believes that they have received inequitable treatment because of discrimination violating the university’s stated policy of equal opportunity in employment and in education should communicate, either in writing or in person, with the Director, Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action, Michael Paul Galvin Tower, Illinois Institute of Technology.
